An unfortunately common annoyance in any house is backed up pipes.
A backup is exactly what it sounds like: the water is backed up and won’t go down the pipe like it is supposed to.
This typically manifests first in a shower, especially if the shower is on the ground floor.
If this happens to you, then you should understand this indicates a larger problem and react accordingly.
In other words: rinse off, get out, and turn the shower off. Until a plumber comes, if you must shower, take Navy showers (on ship, in order to save water, sailors are taught to lather up, turn the shower off, clean themselves and then turn it back on to rinse the soap off again).
Also, do not run the dishwasher machine.
Wherever your backup is, eventually other things will back up too, and if you end up with dozens of gallons of water on your floor, you’ll need more help than a plumber can provide.
If you do have a serious backup problem, you may notice some of these symptoms:
- Bad smells. If your pipe stinks, you may have an issue down the line.
- When you run your washing machine water comes out of the shower.
- Water in the toilet rises when you run a sink in the bathroom.
- Flushing pumps water into the shower or other bathroom drain.
Fortunately, most repairs aren’t that difficult for us to fix. Sometimes we can just use a snake and clear out clogs (a snake is a handheld tool designed to be flexible so it can go through pipes).
We also carry a Ridged K-60 sectional sewer cleaning machine with a reach of 250 feet.
Whatever reasons you may have for getting your sewer repaired, give us a call first. We’ll come over, give you a free estimate, then, if you approve, we’ll get straight to work.
Remember, a backed up pipe is a symptom of something larger, which can be delayed briefly, but not for long. It must be addressed.
